On January 3, the ‘If We Do Not Rise Campaign’ (Hum Agar Uthhe Nahi Toh) is organizing a day of solidarity with the ongoing farmers’ struggle, with a focus on protesting women farmers. IWDNR will also, once again, salute the women who, exactly a year ago, led the peaceful anti-CAA-NRC-NPR to demand their rights as citizens of this country. We will also challenge the National Education Policy that further marginalises girls from vulnerable Dalit, Adivasi and Bahujan communities and oppose the UP ordinance on religious conversion. January 3rd marks the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule, who, along with Fatima Sheikh, fought relentlessly for the rights of women, girls, Dalit, and Bahujan communities. On January 3, 2021, women’s groups, LGBTQIA+ communities, human rights collectives, and individuals will rise in solidarity with democratic struggles across the country, organise physical protests as well as online events in different states on the key issues outlined above.
